On this module, special attention is given to justice, equality and rights. You are introduced to theory which is then explored through a number of case studies focusing in particular on the development of non-discrimination and equality law in the English legal system. The module will encourage you to think about contemporary issues from the perspectives of justice, equality and rights.

Module learning outcomes

  • Knowledge and understanding of the development of non-discrimination and equality law in the UK.
  • Appreciation of the relevance of other legal frameworks to equality and non-discrimination debates.
  • The ability to engage with relevant critical theoretical perspectives and approaches to legal scholarship and to apply these appropriately.
  • The ability to produce a substantial piece of written work which provides evidence of independent research and critical thinking skills.
