This module will enable you to explore specific aspects of the laws applying to the creation, dissemination and use of fashion design, including 'fakes'.

The fashion industry will be investigated in relation to its innovation capacity particularly in terms of new designs and shapes, colours and textiles. The approach will be based on international and comparative sources.

Module learning outcomes

  • Identify the legal interests of stakeholders operating in the fashion industry
  • Critically assess how different forms of regulation are capable of protecting and encouraging the production of fashion design
  • Use relevant authorities (statutes, case-laws, reports, academic articles etc.) to evaluate factual scenarios and policy changes in the regulation of the fashion industry
  • Critically engage in a comparative reflection of current regulatory reforms affecting the fashion industry
