Disputes happen everywhere and there are many ways to resolve them. This module gives you full insight into the law and practice of dispute resolution. You’ll:

• learn to communicate and advise your clients on how to resolve their disputes
• explore the key features of litigation, negotiation, mediation and arbitration, and how they can be used to resolve disputes in a variety of areas of law and life (including but not limited to commercial, civil and family)
• identify and apply relevant civil procedure rules and practice directions that dictate the procedure for civil litigation
• strengthen your negotiation and legal writing skills.

Module learning outcomes

• Critically understand how to advise and represent a client who is a party to a commercial, civil, or family dispute.
• Understand the key features of litigation, negotiation, mediation, arbitration, collaborate law.
• Deploy transferable decision-making and problem-solving skills necessary for employment.
• Identify and apply Civil Procedure Rules provisions.
