We’re ranked 16th in the UK for employment outcomes (out of 90 Higher Education institutions) in the QS World University Rankings 2025.

Our award-winning Careers and Entrepreneurship team (winners of the AGCAS Supporting Student/Graduate Employability Award 2024) will support you with personalised advice, placement and internship support, as well as practical CV advice and on campus jobs. Whatever your ambitions, we're here to help you achieve them, during your time with us and for up to three years after you graduate.

You’ll have opportunities to:

  • choose from around 3,000 paid placements and internships each year with a range of exciting employers like Disney, Gatwick Airport, Knepp Wildland Foundation, Huey Games, L’Oréal, Deloitte, Balfour Beatty and GSK, the NHS and FareShare
  • earn while you study with over 1,000 paid jobs on campus, plus many more in Brighton.

Living on our beautiful green campus you’ll be just a few minutes’ walk away from the library, lecture theatres, shops, cafés and bars. And if you love the great outdoors, take a short walk from campus and you’re in the stunning South Downs.

Joining a student-led club or society is a fun way to meet new people and this year there are nearly 200 to choose from. So, whether you’re a sports lover, gamer or Bake Off fan, there’s something for everyone.

You’ll also find plenty of facilities on campus, including two sports centres, a pharmacy and a supermarket.

Brighton is a captivating city. It’s a place where being yourself is championed and having fun is unavoidable. The city is also famous for its grand Royal Pavilion, its vibrant nightlife and its iconic pebble beach.You’ll never be short of something to do.

Dates for your diary

Here are just some of the exciting events that take place throughout the year:

  • When you arrive on campus in September you can join the various Welcome Week actitivities, discover socities you’ll love and meet new friends.
  • In March we host One World Week, with events that celebrate the diverse cultures at Sussex.
  • The Brighton Marathon Weekend takes place in April, where runners of all ages and abilities get on the move.
  • May is festival season, with Brighton Festival, Brighton Fringe and The Great Esacpe music festival all taking place across various venues in Brighton.
  • Show off your colours in August with the UK’s biggest Pride festival – an all-singing, all dancing extravaganza.

Supporting you with the cost of living

Whatever your background, we can offer you the support to flourish with us and get the most of your experience.

Home undergraduate students might be eligible for the Sussex Bursary, worth at least £2,000, as well as our Affordable Housing scheme to help with the rent for your University accommodation.

An international community

There are more than 150 nationalities studying at Sussex and a third of our students come from outside the UK, which means there are lots of chances to meet people from all over the world.

You can also buy international food from our cafés, shops and weekly street food market.
