Seafront Surf

Mr. Bass Man is the title of my three-track EP, inspired by the Johnny Cymbal track of thesame name. As a bassist in multiple bands and a solo career, I wanted to use this studio project as an exploration of bass and how it can be recorded and performed for commercial release. The first EP track, ‘Seafront Surf,’ is a 50s/60s instrumental-rock track taking influence from the surf-rock genre and Bass VI player Jet Harris.

A Hard Day's Night

This is a vocal reimagining of The Beatles’ title track from their 1964 album A Hard Day’s Night. I wanted to take this 1964 Beatles song and create a piece like Voces8’s version of Radiohead's ‘Pyramid Song,’ however I wanted to experiment with as many vocal techniques as possible and make it similar to a chant sung by Monks. I reharmonised some parts, but retained as many melodies and motifs as I could.

Disenchantophenia

This piece was based on the Avant-pop, final track on Revolver, ‘Tomorrow Never Knows.’ To create these psychedelic sounds, I experimented with logic’s MIDI effects. I toyed with resonance, sequencers, randomisers, envelope filters, and arpeggiators on different MIDI patches.
