Starting a doctorate can be daunting, so it's important to make the most of your first few weeks as a new researcher and familiarise yourself with the help and support available to you at Sussex.
Here's our top tips for happy researchers:
- Establish good habits early on
- Write a plan and revisit it regularly
- Make good use of all of the support available to you
- Plan your supervisory meetings
- Remember that your supervisor is managing a diverse workload and has limited time
- Write early, and write often
- Deal with any problems as soon as they arise
- Take advantage of the training available through the Researcher Development Programme
- Attend a one-to-one session with the Library's Research Support Team
