Terms and conditions for language short courses at Sussex

Enrolment Process

• Reserving a Place: A place on a course cannot be reserved until payment is received.
• No Guarantee: Upon completing enrolment, you will receive an automated email confirming receipt of payment. However, this does not guarantee that the course will run, as it is subject to meeting the minimum enrolment numbers. You will receive a separate email once the course is confirmed to run.

Course Confirmation and Cancellation

• Minimum Enrolment Numbers: Courses are confirmed once they reach the minimum enrolment numbers. We reserve the right to cancel courses if the minimum enrolment numbers are not met.
• Refunds and Alternatives: In the event of a cancellation, a full refund of fees will be provided, or a suitable alternative will be offered.
• For most courses we accept new learners up to about three weeks after the start of the course. This can vary according to the language and level of the course, and is subject to places still being available. We cannot normally offer a reduction in the fee for people who join a course late.

Refund Policy

• No Refunds After Course Start: Once a course has started, we are unable to refund payments to ensure courses have sufficient numbers to run.
• Exceptional Circumstances: In exceptional cases, we may offer a credit note for a future course or consider a refund if requested within the first three weeks of the course. An administration fee of £50 will be deducted from any refund.

General Policies

• Right to Refuse Entry: We reserve the right to refuse entry to any of our courses.
• Age Requirement: All our language short courses are available to individuals aged 18 or over.
• Concession Fees: Concession fees are available for those on full state benefits, senior citizens on state retirement pensions only, full-time and part-time students, and employees and alumni of the University of Sussex.
