Arts A Lecture Theatres
Timescale: Completed summer 2007
Project value: £800,000
Following the successful completion of the refurbishment of Chichester Lecture Theatre, an upgrade of the main Arts Lecture Theatres A1 & A2 was undertaken.
The main features included new seating, improvements to the ventilation system, complete redecoration and new flooring throughout, and provide a welcome improvement to these essential teaching facilities. There were also new whiteboards, screens and projector equipment, combined with improved sound systems. Again, every effort was made to ensure that the original features of the Spence architecture were supported.
The refurbished lecture theatres were renamed in honour of Asa Briggs, the founding Dean of the School of Social Studies and the University's second Vice-Chancellor, from 1967 to 1976
