Explore the facilities you can use on our Product Design courses, including our Design Studio and Innovation Lab.

Design Studio

The Design Studio is the main hub for our Product Design students, where lectures, seminars, workshops and more take place.

There are five Makerbot 3D printers for you to use, as well as group study areas, a community kitchen and a free materials store. You’ll have full access to this space outside of teaching sessions.

Product Design Innovation Lab

The Innovation Lab is a supervised clean prototyping space, featuring:

  • desktop CNC cutters
  • synthetic plastic recycling and prototyping equipment
  • bio-plastic development equipment
  • vacuum former
  • electronics prototyping equipment
  • hand tools.

Product Design Prototyping Rooms

Our Prototyping Rooms hold larger pieces of equipment that you’ll use both in and in your own prototyping, including:

  • CNC machines
  • pillar drills
  • sanders
  • a vacuum former
  • spray booths
  • routers
  • lathe
  • sewing machine
  • hand tools.

Materials Library – coming 2024/25

Located beside the Design Studio, this new facility will offer an extensive catalogue of material samples for students to use as part of their research.
