Develop hands-on media production skills

The Media Technology Lab is home to excellent state-of-the-art facilities, where you’ll have access to:

  • software development tools
  • 3D modelling and rendering tools
  • multimedia content creation tools
  • studio facilities
  • professional video-editing systems
  • sound-recording facilities.

You’ll undertake practical work assignments using up-to-date facilities you’d find in the modern gaming and digital media industries.

There are two studio-based television production facilities, including full broadcast standard cameras with tally and talk back capabilities. There’s also a large LED wall backdrop for studio set ups and virtual production.

Each studio has an associated gallery with control facilities, mixing desks and digital recording equipment. You’ll also have access to a Mac-based edit suite running professional post-production software.

You could even produce a broadcast television show as part of a production team, depending on the modules you choose to study. This will help you develop skills in:

  • audio and video design and delivery for broadcast
  • technical graphics
  • live Cloud production
  • programme directing
  • vision mixing.

The facilities can also be used during final year projects and masters projects.
