3D printing and materials testing

Learn about our 3D printing and tensile testing facilities.

Students using 3D printing facilities

3D printing area

The 3D printing area is used by all our Engineering students. It’s run by the students, and is mainly used by Engineering societies and students working on projects.

This area has recently been updated with the inclusion of eight Prusa 3d Printers.

You’ll develop your confidence by being responsible for the maintenance and upkeep of the printers.

Student using tensile testing facilities

Tensile testing area

This area has is used by many first-year Engineering students, and has been recently updated. It’s used for teaching labs and research.

This area includes eight brand-new 50kn tensile testing and compression testing machines.

Here you’ll learn about the mechanical properties of different materials and how this affects their point of failure.
