Music Innovation and Enterprise Project (W3074)
30 credits, Level 6
Spring teaching
This module allows you to undertake either an industry placement or a special project which otherwise falls outside of the remit of the other modules by presenting a compelling, music-related proposal to the module convenor for approval in the preceding academic term. Past projects have included work in the music and broadcast industry, education, therapy, curation, and events. In each case, the theme of the project focuses on experiential learning and collaboration, through investigation and working outside of the institution with practitioners and professionals.
You will be responsible for setting up and conducting the project and will receive four 30-mins supervisions with an allocated supervisor throughout the term to monitor progress and help with providing the critical reflection, or guidance required, to fulfil the agreed project aims. You will develop organisational and project management skills and undertaking a project or placement could offer invaluable insight into current working practices and other activities suitable to support a developing career.

This module is approximately 300 hours of work. This breaks down into about 8 hours of contact time and about 292 hours of independent study. The University may make minor variations to the contact hours for operational reasons, including timetabling requirements.
We regularly review our modules to incorporate student feedback, staff expertise, as well as the latest research and teaching methodology. We’re planning to run these modules in the academic year 2024/25. However, there may be changes to these modules in response to feedback, staff availability, student demand or updates to our curriculum.
We’ll make sure to let you know of any material changes to modules at the earliest opportunity.
