Autumn and spring teaching
This module provides the opportunity for you to undertake an independent research project. The dissertation will enable you to demonstrate the knowledge, skills and competences acquired during the taught elements of the course, i.e. first year, second year and placement year. The dissertation may be in the form of a literature-based analysis of a research problem. Alternatively, the dissertation could involve primary data collection or application of secondary data to undertake empirical analysis. In all cases, the dissertation is expected to address clear research questions.

Contact hours and workload
This module is approximately 300 hours of work. This breaks down into about 14 hours of contact time and about 286 hours of independent study. The University may make minor variations to the contact hours for operational reasons, including timetabling requirements.
We regularly review our modules to incorporate student feedback, staff expertise, as well as the latest research and teaching methodology. We’re planning to run these modules in the academic year 2024/25. However, there may be changes to these modules in response to feedback, staff availability, student demand or updates to our curriculum.
