Engineering and Design Industrial Placement (H7105)

120 credits, Level 5

Autumn and spring teaching

During your placement, you will spend a minimum of 10 months in an organisation, in an area relevant to your degree.

You have the chance to develop your technical, team-working and transferable skills. You’ll apply what you have learned in your studies to a business environment. A placement year gives you valuable experience that will help you secure a graduate job after finishing your course.

Throughout the process of securing your placement, you are supported by the University’s Careers and Entrepreneurship team as well as the Department of Engineering and Design. This includes:

  • a list of potential employers
  • help with CV writing and your cover letter
  • preparing for the interviews.

Once you are on the placement, you are assigned an academic tutor who will visit the company twice during the placement.
