Gender, Crime and Justice (L4113B)

Spring teaching
On this module, you’ll explore gender, crime, and justice across a range of topics, including:
- intimate violence
- sex work
- the night-time economy
- street crime
- crimes of the powerful
- policing, courts, and forms of punishment.
You’ll examine the significance of gender to various aspects of crime and justice, considering all gendered identities. The module engages with contemporary debates in feminist criminology, questioning whether and how criminal justice approaches can achieve gendered justice.

Contact hours and workload
This module is approximately 150 hours of work. This breaks down into about 22 hours of contact time and about 128 hours of independent study. The University may make minor variations to the contact hours for operational reasons, including timetabling requirements.
