Psychology in Practice Placement Year (C8901)

Autumn and spring teaching

On this module, you'll gain practical experience in psychological work, applying theoretical knowledge from your first two years of study while receiving further training in skills relevant to your specific placement. Placements may involve clinical work or specialised psychological services.

You'll enhance your employability through first-hand experience in unpaid service settings, fostering personal and professional growth through self-reflection and skill development. Placement settings may include the NHS, non-profit charities and other organisations delivering psychological services.

Contact hours and workload

This module is approximately 1200 hours of work. This breaks down into about 8 hours of contact time and about 1192 hours of independent study. The University may make minor variations to the contact hours for operational reasons, including timetabling requirements.

We regularly review our modules to incorporate student feedback, staff expertise, as well as the latest research and teaching methodology. We’re planning to run these modules in the academic year 2024/25. However, there may be changes to these modules in response to feedback, staff availability, student demand or updates to our curriculum.
