Working with students
Discover how our psychology students can support projects in your organisation with their skills and knowledge.
Benefitting your team
Working with students can be highly beneficial for organisations to develop specific projects under academic supervision as well as to develop talent for their future recruitment portfolios. Students grow their experience in applying their knowledge to real life scenarios and improve their employment opportunities.
How you can work with students
Some of the ways you can work with our students include:
- internships: students work 6-8 weeks over the summer in an organisation (usually local to UoS). In person. To find out more, contact the Career and Entrepreneurship team.
- student consultancy: a multi-disciplinary teams of students work for 100 hours on a live employer brief, presenting their solution back to the client. Students work remotely. To find out more, contact the Career and Entrepreneurship team.
- ad-hoc student projects: bespoke activities can be arranged on topics that are of interest to the organisation and fit in a taught module's requirement. These can typically last a few months and involve working directly with students with the supervision of an academic towards a final paper. To find out more, contact Elisa Fortunato: e.fortunato@sussex.ac.uk.
- placements: students spend 40 weeks with your organisation, between their second and third year of undergraduate study or after their masters. Unpaid placements take part in the NHS, mental health practices, schools, charities, research centres, public sector and government offices. Paid placements take place in industry and are paid at the National Living Wage or higher.
