MPS Student Experience

Where to find help and support for students in MPS

 There are a number of people within MPS, and services across the univeristy, who can help you. If you feel you need extra support or advice do get in touch.

Student Experience Coordinator

Student Centre

The Student Centre provides advice and support on all areas of student support here at Sussex, including disability support, visas, finance, housing and general health and wellbeing. Their friendly Welcome Team can be contacted by email or phone, they are also open for face to face visitors 8:30am - 5pm Monday - Friday. The team will direct you to relevant service and help you make appointments should you need 1:1, confidential, support. 

You can also use My Sussex to access support services, find information or advice.

Academic Advisors

Your academic advisor is there to discuss and support your academic progress. You can check the name and contact details for your advisor on Sussex Direct. 

Your Student Reps

If you have feedback about your course or modules, or ideas for an idea for an extra curricular activity that might be of interest to others in MPS you can contact your student rep. Each year cohort has at least one rep, and we also have additional student reps for specific groups including LGBT+ students, neurodiverse students and international students. 

Student rep nominations and elections take place in September/early October and are run by the Student's Union.

In an Emergency

Report + Support

If you or someone else has experienced behaviours such as bullying, harassment, a hate incident, sexual violence, domestic abuse, or discrimination, you can let us know using Report + Support  

Mental Health

(including out of hours assistance)

For any urgent mental health concerns, please phone the Brighton & Hove Mental Health Rapid Response Service (MHRRS): 0300 304 0078 or Sussex Mental Health Line for support & advice: 0300 5000 101. Both are open 24 hrs/day 7 days/week and are staffed by clinical professionals.

For online 24/7 mental health support: The University has signed up to Togetherall. A 24/7 online community where you can access (anonymously) mutual support, self-assessment, self-guided courses, and creative tools for expressing yourself. Togetherall is clinically managed, with mental health professionals available 24/7 to keep the community safe. Register here to use Togetherall free of charge.  

Student Space

Student Space is a free resource for all students, providing dedicated wellbeing support services by phone, text, email, and webchat. Text the word SUSSEX to 85258
