If you are an international student already studying in the UK and want to apply to Sussex, you can see some of the most common UK-based qualifications taken by international students and accepted by Sussex below.

- University of Sussex International Study Centre - International Foundation Year and International Year One
The International Study Centre, based on campus offers both the International Foundation Year and International Year One – two preparation courses designed for international students who do not meet the entry requirements for an undergraduate degree.
International students can choose from the following International Foundation Year subject routes:
- International Foundation Year in Business, Media and Social Sciences
- International Foundation Year in Science and Engineering.
International students can choose from the following International Year One subject routes:
- International Year One in Business and Management
- International Year One in Computing
- International Year One in Engineering
- International Year One in Film and Media
- International Year One in Finance and Accounting
- International Year One in International Relations and International Development.
As an International Study Centre student, you are guaranteed a conditional offer for progression on to your choice of linked undergraduate degree at Sussex.
If you successfully complete the International Foundation Year you continue your studies into the first year of a linked undergraduate course at Sussex. If you successfully complete the International Year One you can enter into the second year of an undergraduate degree at Sussex.
Both qualifications contain academic content for your chosen discipline, as well as study skills and English language tuition.
- CATS University Foundation Programmes
If you study one of the University Foundation Programmes at a CATS college in Cambridge, Canterbury or London, you are normally eligible for first year entry into a relevant undergraduate degree.
You'll need to achieve similar grades in three academic subjects to those shown as the standard A-level offer level for your chosen subject and be taking any relevant subjects listed as A-level requirements.
You'll also need an extra English language qualification at the required level (such as IELTS). Check our undergraduate courses for our English language requirements.

- Into Foundation Course
For first year entry, you normally need to have an average overall pass mark of 65% from a relevant foundation course.
You must also have a suitable English language qualification at the required level (such as IELTS). Check our undergraduate courses for our English language requirements.

- Kaplan International College Foundation Certificate
For first year entry, you normally need to achieve an overall average score of 65% in a relevant Foundation Certificate.

- NCUK International Foundation Year
If you study the NCUK International Foundation Year, you are normally eligible for first year entry into a relevant undergraduate degree.
