Autumn teaching
This module explores:
- the nature of the world for global businesses
- the scale, scope and trends in global business activity
- evaluation of the methods firms can use to assess, enter and develop non-domestic markets factors that shape the international environment such as the economic, socio-cultural, and legal environment, host and home country perspectives, trade and investment and integration
- the way in which this environment shapes the organisation and management of global business.
The main aim of this module is to develop an understanding of the nature of the environment for international business. The module enables you to obtain a critical and practical understanding of the importance of environmental characteristic such as culture, regulation and politics - which affect businesses in their daily activities.

Contact hours and workload
This module is approximately 150 hours of work. This breaks down into about 34 hours of contact time and about 116 hours of independent study. The University may make minor variations to the contact hours for operational reasons, including timetabling requirements.
We regularly review our modules to incorporate student feedback, staff expertise, as well as the latest research and teaching methodology. We’re planning to run these modules in the academic year 2025/26. However, there may be changes to these modules in response to feedback, staff availability, student demand or updates to our curriculum.
