International Corporate Governance (925M3)

Spring teaching

The module will begin with an examination of the definition and development of corporate governance as a concept before turning to consider recent developments in the UK and in Europe. Focus will be given in particular to directors, their duties and the structure of the board before turning to consider the notion of managerialism. The module will consider notions of corporate social responsibility before finally turning to consider corporate governance in the context of recent financial scandals.

Contact hours and workload

This module is approximately 300 hours of work. This breaks down into about 24 hours of contact time and about 276 hours of independent study. The University may make minor variations to the contact hours for operational reasons, including timetabling requirements.
