Introduction to Social Development (033IDA)
30 credits, Level 7 (Masters)
Autumn teaching
This module will introduce you to the field of social development through the examination of key concepts.
For each topic we'll look at how different concepts have been applied in aid policy and practice, and at the debates and controversies they have caused. By drawing on analyses of case studies and examples from different countries, you'll be encouraged to reflect critically upon the theoretical, practical, and ethical implications of each concept and to develop your own views about the applicability of these concepts and their potential impacts in different social contexts.
