Performing Falastina: Gendered embodiments of Palestinian identity

Practice-based with a CHASE Arts and Humanities Research Council Studentship.

Co-Supervised by Piotr Cieplak and Benedict Burbridge (Media Film & Music/History, Art History & Philosophy)

This practice based research uses a collaboratively performed film and a written thesis to explore women’s experiences of gender and identity within the confines of occupation, patriarchy and nationalism in the Palestinian West Bank. I have been awarded a scholarship from the Arts and Humanities Research Council (CHASE Consortium) to support my research.

My broader research interests include decolonial methodologies, constructions of identity, gender and sexuality, cultural production, curation, visual cultures, and feminist and queer approaches, with a focus on the Middle East and North Africa.
