Inside My Head is a virtual reality experience set to invite the player to reflect upon and expose the issues arising from the utilisation of highly visual social media platforms and the absorption of the content, especially retouched and filtered media, within these platforms. The project was created as a reflection on the current cultural and social context which reflects how the rise of social networking sites has progressively allowed social media platforms to replace traditional media as the main source from which beauty standards and ideals are conveyed. The virtual reality experience brings the player, sixteen years old men and women and above, on a journey through the mind of someone who is progressively affected by social networking sites (SNSs) usage's long-term effects. The player will walk through eight different rooms, following a linear narrative which will portray the decline of the individual mental health, the creation of intrusive thoughts, feelings of appearance dissatisfaction and a decrease in self-esteem, through the use of videos, photographs and animated graphics.
