Anthropology
A vibrant community of faculty and students actively concerned with understanding and making a difference in the world.
The School of Global Studies is a vibrant, research-focused core within the heart of the University.
We are committed to conducting engaged research and providing critical teaching to address the most urgent global challenges of our time, including inequalities, climate change, conflict, global health, financial crises and discrimination.
Our mission is to create knowledge and understanding that can drive positive change, working towards a fairer, safer, more sustainable and inclusive world.
The School comprises the departments of Anthropology, Geography, International Relations and International Development.
We recognise that complex global issues need creative, interdisciplinary solutions. We bring together experts from both the natural and social sciences to tackle these challenges.
Our research includes many projects funded by UK research councils such as the Economic and Social Research Council (ESRC), Arts and Humanities Research Council (AHRC) and the Natural Environment Research Council (NERC), as well as major contributions to policy debates within the UK government, EU and other international organisations. Research projects place significant emphasis on collaboration beyond academia throughout the research process and are based on a commitment to co-producing knowledge with research users.
