Professor Peter Newell
Professor Peter Newell is attending the current COP26. He has worked on the politics of climate change for over 25 years. Ahead of COP26, he took part in the ESRC Festival of Social Science where he spoke about his fossil fuel non-proliferation treaty initiative (see video below).
About Professor Newell
Professor Peter Newell is Professor of International Relations at the University of Sussex and Research Director of the Rapid Transition Alliance.
He is an expert in the politics of climate change and low carbon energy transitions.
His Fossil Fuel Non-Proliferation Treaty initiative has been backed by the Dalai Lama and 100 Nobel Laureates, over 800 organisations and many politicians, while his recent research has highlighted the need for curbs on the excesses of the polluter elite who are disproportionately high contributors of carbon emissions.
