We produce world-leading research and promote the public good through philosophy.
We’ve worked with a wide variety of organisations, including the UK Parliament, the Royal College of Midwives, the British Horseracing Association, Philosophy in Prisons, the International Science Council, Refugee Action and Refugee Council and the Royal Institute of Philosophy.
We communicate our philosophy through a wide range of media outlets including Scientific American, the New York Times, the Guardian, and the Independent. We’ve also featured in TV programmes, documentaries and on radio programmes, including In Our Time, The Moral Maze, Big Ideas and Great Lives, as well as appearing at Festivals such as Hay-on Wye and How The Light Gets in.
The Sussex Philosophy Department was ranked 4th in the UK for our impact by the 2021 REF panel (Times Higher Education).
