What we do

The Centre for Teaching and Learning Research (CTLR) is located in the School of Education and Social Work at the University of Sussex. The centre is led by Dr Christina Hancock.

Centre members come together around a broad interest in promoting excellence in teaching and learning. Interests span all contexts and age ranges and there is a fundamental commitment to supporting positive change through the better integration of research with practice. The Centre incorporates a strong focus on the development of practitioner research skills and critical engagement with educational policy and theory.

Alongside this runs recognition of the social context of learning and the importance of supporting teachers’ in developing the kinds of reflexive, inclusive and equitable practices that will allow them to bring positive change within their own professional settings.
