Stuart Hall Foundation
The centre organises a Stuart Hall Fellowship with the Stuart Hall Foundation. We are proud to have hosted Fellows since 2018.
In 2018/19 we hosted the Turner Prize-nominated photographer Ingrid Pollard, who furthered her ongoing project The Valentines Days, which was part of the exhibition Making Jamaica at Autograph ABP in London.
In 2019/20 we hosted the investigative journalist Rebecca Omonira-Oyekanmi, who ran a series of writing workshops mentoring young writers, one of whom went on to win the 2020 Orwell youth prize.
In 2021/22 we hosted the cultural activist and artist-curator Susuana Amoah, who organised Action Research workshops and also co-organised the panel event at the Sussex Festival of Ideas, ‘Making Space: Decolonial Interventions in Contemporary Art’.
Stuart Hall Fellow 2022/23
Our Fellow for 2022/23 is multi-disciplinary creative and activist Erin James, a Brighton-based performer, photographer, writer, poet, DJ, events organiser and curator. During the Fellowship, Erin will host an event as part of the Sussex Festival of Ideas and Brighton Festival in May 2023.
