Research

At various times Jane has researched and published in the areas of theatre and cultural history; gender and education; and women's history in the eighteenth century. Her current research interests are in in the field of sexualities and ageing.

Her MPhil research (http://etheses.bham.ac.uk/497/ ), drew attention to the invisibility of older lesbians in the media and popular culture, and explored the reasons for this cultural absence. Her doctoral research sought to redress that invisibility, through a broad-based survey of the lives and experiences of lesbians over 60 in the UK.
