Research
Dan's research is focused on pervasive computing, particularly where context is used to support useful interaction. Context includes device and network characteristics; environmental conditions; the user's context, such as location and interests; and social context, such as co-location, identity (and how it is presented), trust, reputation, provenance and social networks. Understanding these issues allows systems to adapt their behaviour to make computing reflect the users' needs and enable new applications.
