The Governance Team will be running elections for 2024 as follows;

  1. One Postgraduate Researcher (PGR) to Council 
  2. Three Elected Academic Representatives for Faculty of Media, Arts & Humanities to Senate
  3. Three Elected Academic Representatives for the University of Sussex Business School to Senate

Census day: 1st July 2024

The Governance Team are holding webinars about the role of Senate and Council; these are open to all staff eligible for nomination. Please email  S.Priddle@sussex.ac.uk if you would like to attend one of these sessions;

  1. Elections to Council: Weds 10 July 2pm-3pm and Weds 24th July 3pm-4pm
  2. Elections to Senate: Mon 22nd July 2pm-3pm and Weds 24th Jul 2pm-3pm.

 Postgraduate Researcher Student (PGR) Elections 2024

Notice of Election for 1 Postgraduate Researcher (PGR) at the University of Sussex to serve on Council for a one-year period from 1 August 2024 to 31 July 2025. 

Eligibility

All University of Sussex registered Postgraduate Researchers (PGRs) are eligible to nominate or be nominated, who will remain students from 1 August 2024- 31 July 2025. The electorate will be all Postgraduate Researchers (PGRs) on the census date of 1 July 2024. 

Election procedure

The first step is the nomination of candidates. Nominations form for Postgraduate Researchers (PGRs) can be found in the table below.

Nominators should check that their nominee is willing and eligible to serve. Self-nomination is permissible. The Governance Team are holding webinars about the role of Council; these are open to all PGR’s who are considering nomination who want to find out more information. Please email  S.Priddle@sussex.ac.uk if you would like to attend one of these sessions.

Completed nominations forms must be returned to lg476@sussex.ac.uk by 5pm on Friday 26th July 2024.

Each Nomination Form received will be acknowledged. Ballot papers will be issued, if necessary, after the closing date for nominations together with details of the voting procedure. The result of the election will be announced on the Governance & Compliance website.

 

Faculty Representatives to Senate Elections 2024

Notice of Election for 3 members of Academic Staff from the Faculty of Media Arts & Humanities (MAH) and the University of Sussex Business School (USBS) to Senate to serve from 1 August 2024 until 31 July 2027. To enable Council and Senate to consider the proposed changes to Senate’s composition, the elections are being held later in the academic year than normal. All appointments will be back dates to 1 August 2024 to ensure terms are aligned for future years.

Calls for Nominations begin on Friday 12th July 2024

Eligibility

Provision is made for 3 members of the academic staff to be elected to Senate by and from the academic staff of the Faculty of Media Arts & Humanities (MAH) and the University of Sussex Business School (USBS).  

In accordance with the relevant Regulations, the following members of the Faculties academic staff are eligible to nominate, be nominated and vote in this election:-

  • Those on Teaching or Research Faculty conditions of service who, on the census date: (a) hold a university appointment; and (b) have at least one (1) year of continuous employment service remaining with the University.
  • The electorate will be the members of the Faculty’s academic staff as defined above on the census date of 1st July 2024.
