In Word, how can I set Roman numerals as page numbers?

  1. Open the Insert tab and from the Header and Footer group select  Page Number
  2. Click on the Format page Numbers...  button
  3. Change the Number format and Start at number
  4. Click OK
  5. Select Page Number icon, select the appropriate position
  6. Click on Close on the Header/Footer toolbar to return to your document
