SPSS fails to activate and displays a 'License not valid' message

Please follow these steps to correct the problem.

1. Close SPSS, if running.
2. Open File Explorer from the Start Menu.
3. Navigate to folder 'C:\Program Files\IBM\SPSS Statistics'.
4. Delete the lservrc file.
5. In the same folder, open file echoid.dat in Notepad.
6. Change the value from 0x004 to 0x008.
7. Save the file.
8. Now start SPSS from the Start Menu.
9. Click Launch License Wizard.
10. In the Wizard, select Authorized user license.
11. Click Next.
12. Enter the code published on this page: https://www.sussex.ac.uk/its/services/software/owncomputer/spss
13. Click the Add button.
14. Click Next.
15. Wait for the Internet Authorization to complete and then click Next.
16. Click Finish.
17. Click Restart.
