Every staff and student mailbox has a 100GB storage quota.
Shared mailboxes have 50GB storage which can be extended if required.
If you exceed your quota you will receive an email warning from IT Services. You will need to delete any emails that are no longer required to free up space. If you are still unable to prune your emails sufficiently to move back within your current quota, contact the IT Service Desk for further assistance.
In order to prevent accidental or malicious abuse of the email system there are limits on the size of messages which can be sent and received.
Max message size
For all mailboxes the allowed maximum size of an individual message is 50Mb . If you need to shared large files with others it best practice to send a link to where the files are stored eg. OneDrive.
Recipient Limits
The maximum number of emails you can send will depend on your type of user account. For security reasons if you attempt to send more messages than your quota your account will become disabled and you will need to contact IT Services.

NB (each recipient is classed as 1 email and so still limited to 1000 externals per hour).
Advice for bulk sending emails:
To avoid issues with quotas you can send larger quantities of mail in batches or you can use distribution lists.

If you need to send more than the above limits or require further advice then please contact IT Services to discuss your requirements.
