How can I ensure my Canvas e-submissions go smoothly?


Have you got a deadline coming up?
Will you be submitting your work online?

Here are the most important things to remember:

  1. Your Canvas user id is your University username followed by @sussex.ac.uk.  For example, ano123@sussex.ac.uk
  2. You Canvas password is your University password.
    If you have forgotten this, you can change it in Sussex Direct as long as you have registered a personal email address or mobile phone number.  Otherwise, you’ll need to contact the IT Service Desk.
  3. What if I submit the wrong file?
    If you submit the wrong file and the deadline has not passed, then you will be able to re-submit your file.
    If the deadline has passed, you will not be able to re-submit via the electronic system, and the original file you submitted will be marked.
    If you have concerns about work you have submitted once the deadline has passed, please see the ADQE E-submission and feedback web page for further information and advice.
  4. Browser
    There are some problems with submitting work using the Safari browser, so we recommend you use Google Chrome. Here is a link to how to resolve problems with Safari Resolve issues with Safari and Canvas. It's also important to make sure that you are using an up to date version of your browser, as described in this link on Supported browsers for Canvas.
  5. Canvas Turnitin receipt
    You can download a digital receipt of your submission by going to the assignment page, clicking the ‘Download digital receipt’ button next to your submission and saving the pdf document.
