When I try to delete selected text by using BACKSPACE in Microsoft Word, it doesn't work.

  1. From the  File tab select the Options button
  2. Choose Advanced from the left hand side,
  3. Under Editing options, make sure there is a tick against Typing Replaces Selected Text.
