Vinita Damodaran leads an internationally recognised research team exploring the global effect of climate change in the Indian Ocean. Vinita is also Director of the Centre for World Environmental History. Filippo Osella and Maximilian Martin have launched a project to support the development of accurate and accessible marine forecasts for safer and sustainable fishing on India’s Kerala coast.
Researchers at the Centre are also exploring the possibilities of launching an intensive programme of research on the geopolitical implications of inter-Asian circulations of materia medica (asafoetida, saffron and talc), an issue often overlooked in research that explores this theme from a one-sided development studies perspective.
