Social Events

Alongside your JRA project, we organise several social events over the summer, so please find the details of these below!

Crafting Sessions

Take a break from your research and learn a new skill, as we will provide all the necessary materials and guidance to help you create beautiful handmade crafts. If you already have some craft you are working on, such as knitting, crochet, painting, drawing, etc... and you would just like the company, then feel free to bring this with you instead.

Every Monday starting from 10^th June – 19^th August

Time: 3.00pm – 5.00pm

Location: Sussex Digital Humanities Lab, Level 2, Silverstone Building

Coffee Catch Ups

Get to know your fellow JRAs in a casual and relaxed environment, as you grab yourself a drink of your choice and have a chat about your project. 

 

Every Wednesday starting  12^th June – 21^st August

Time: 10.00am – 11.00am 

Location: Alternates between Arts Cafe and IDS Bar and Cafe, so check weekly update

Evening Socials

Unwind from your project and enjoy more social time with your fellow JRAs. These events can range from drinks and nibbles to playing board games and are open to ideas, so please contact us at undergraduate-research@sussex.ac.uk if you have any specific suggestions.

Location: Falmer Bar

Research Tours

These tours give you a great opportunity to see and experience all the spaces and facilities available to researchers at Sussex. These include science and humanities laboratories, the Library Hive and other spaces across campus.

Tuesday 25^th June - Book your place here

Scenic Walks

Join us as we take a trip off campus to explore the amazing countryside that surrounds the University of Sussex. These walks are a great opportunity to take a break from your research, get some fresh air and socialise with your fellow JRAs.

Thursday 18^th July - Stanmer House

Time: 2.00pm – 3.30pm

Location: Meet at Library square and walk to Stanmer House

Tuesday 6^th August – Falmer Village

Time: 2.00pm – 3.30pm

Location: Meet at Library square and walk to Falmer Village

End of Summer Celebration

Come and enjoy the company of your fellow JRAs and celebrate the completion of your research (even if you haven’t quite finished yet). This event is the perfect opportunity to unwind, relax, and have a great time with friends.
