Wireless Sensor Networks

Recent advances in electronics have allowed the creation of small, cheap, low power sensors, which have the ability to communicate wirelessly. This new technology has opened the door to a whole new array of sensing applications, which were previously not possible. Wireless sensor networks (WSNs) can be deployed in harsh terrains in an ad-hoc fashion and are expected to self-coordinate and transmit data back to the user under the most extreme conditions.
