A week of wellness events for self-identifying female students and staff!
Girls Takeover week does exactly what it says on the tin, it's a chance for our female (and self-identifying female) students and staff take part in sessions chosen by them!
We've been collecting suggestions online and around campus over the past few weeks and have put together a timetable based on your feedback.
All sessions are ONLY £2 (except the Coffee Morning which is free)!!

Looking to de-stress and start your week on a high note? Join Laila for an hour of commercial dance! Featuring a brand new routine to a popular dance song, this class is designed to boost your confidence and make you shine! Open to all levels no matter how much dance experience you have.

Professional nutritionist Laura will talk through the physiological differences between men and women, and how these affect what we need to eat. She will touch on calorie consumption (making sure you’re getting enough to fuel your training!), recommended foods for optimising mental and physical performance and what supplements we should look to add into our regimes.
2:15-3:15: Setting a gym programme workshop - with Sussexsport, in the Sport Centre Activities Room
Looking to build a gym habit but have no idea where to start? Or do you need some guidance on how to reach your next goal? This workshop will look at best practice when it comes to planning out your sessions, based on what your targets are.
Inexperienced and experienced gym goers welcome!5pm-6:30pm: Badminton social session (STUDENTS ONLY) Sport Centre Hall 1
Rock up and play some badminton with other female students, no experience needed and all equipment provided.

8am-8:45am: Pop Girls circuits - with Thea (Sport Centre Hall 1)
For all abilities, a full body circuit with bodyweight and dumbell/kettlebell excercises. All to a playlist of female pop icons! Finishing at 8:45 in case people need to dash to lectures (showers available in the Sport Centre).

10am-2pm: Girls Takeover Coffee Morning and activewear swap shop (Mandela Hall)
Grab a coffee on your way in and mooch about our stalls, discovering opportunities to get active and access support on campus. Entry is free and complimentary coffee available. Please bring your own reusable cup if possible!
Our activewear swap shop is a perfect opportunity to clear out your gym kit drawer and even pick up a new fit! Bring your unwanted clothes to Mandela Hall and swap them for tokens which you can exchange for new items. You can even drop clothes off in advance at the Sport Centre and Falmer Sport Complex reception.*please make sure items are undamaged and in near new condition, swimwear and underwear not accepted, but yes please to athleisure wear and loungewear (eg: trackies and hoodies). Each item will be granted one token and items will cost one token each*Limited edition Girls Takeover T Shirts will also be avaiable to purchase for £10 each (cash only please)!
