The Interfaith Choir (Of Brighton & Hove)
The Interfaith Choir was born from The Interfaith Contact Group of Brighton and Hove (IFCG), an organization that was created some 20 years ago as a resource for contact and dialogue between the many faith communities and spiritual traditions in Brighton and Hove. Today its remit is to promote friendship and understanding between people of different faith, and none. It achieves this end by running a series of events and meetings – conferences, concerts, forums and also an annual Interfaith Service, which has become a popular fixture within the City, with the participation of many different faiths.
Some years ago a choir was created for the purpose of supporting the annual interfaith service. Since then the Interfaith Choir has gone on to sing to audiences and congregations throughout Sussex, as well as contributing to a national interfaith event at Winchester Cathedral.
The Choir is committed to promoting harmony in every sense, and it achieves this with the help of its gifted and inspired choirmasters – Judith Silver and Rev Razia Aziz.
The choir practices at least once a fortnight, sometimes more frequently before a special event, such as a concert or sacred service. The music is unique, mixing many cultures and styles, and generating a rich and harmonious sound. All newcomers to the choir are warmly welcome - there is no need to have any previous singing experience, just come along and sing with our enthusiastic and friendly group and have fun.
