Sajeela Kershi – Immigrant Diaries

‘Touching and informative, Immigrant Diaries plays with the boundaries of stand up comedy and is entirely engaging.’ – The Guardian

Sajeela KershiSajeela Kershi

Comedian and writer Sajeela Kershi is reviving her multi-award winning show Immigrant Diaries for Migration Awareness Day. Taking the slogan: “Statistics don’t tell the story of migration, people do”- Sajeela, in the company of special guests, combines traditional stand-up with poignant story-telling and audience interactions to present a very different picture of experiences and issues of migration than is so often portrayed in the main-stream media.

Sajeela Kershi has been performing stand-up since 2006. She got her big break as one of the audience ‘plants’ in Brendon Burns’s 2007 if.comedy-winning show, So I Suppose This Is Offensive Now? Sajeela has written several critically acclaimed shows for the Edinburgh Fringe festival and was a finalist at the Hackney Empire New Act Awards in 2011. In 2015 Sajeela was voted Asian Woman of Achievement for Arts & Culture. Immigrant Diaries has been performed at theatres and festivals across the UK, including sell-out runs at The South Bank Centre and in London’s West End.

‘Laugh-out-loud show that resonates. Quirky and original’ – The Independent

Juliet Meyers and her dog have issues. This is a show about unconditional love, anxiety, peeing on things and being a wolf. Contains stand-up, stories, a bit of tenderness (mostly caused by bruising when the dog chased a squirrel), and possibly the actual dog as he doesn’t like being left on his own.

Juliet Meyers is a standard up comedian and writer for The Sarah Millican Television Programme, 8 out of 10 Cats and BBC Radio Four Comedy.
