Annual Meeting of UK’s Association for Radiation Research.

The meeting of the Annual Meeting of the Association for Radiation Research 2014 has now concluded. We have prepared a powerpoint presentation of pictures taken at the meeting.
Topics included the DNA damage response, stem cell biology, imaging and predictive biomarkers for the response to radiation, the impact of low radiation dose exposure, approaches to enhance the efficacy of radiotherapy, tumour microenvironment and nuclear medicine. We have some outstanding invited speakers including Mike Atkinson, Martin Brown, Marco Durante, Michael Hauptmann,Steve Jackson, Markus Lobrich, Mark Pearce, Jon Waterton … and more (see the programme for details).
The Weiss Award was presented to Mike Atkinson.
There was a dedicated session for Sscientists in Training (SIT) members of the ARR with SIT members giving talks and chairing the session. SIT talks were chosen from the abstracts and were presented by Cynthia Eccles, Grainne Manning, Simon Horn, Saray Jevons, Anne-Sophie Schreurs, Lara Barazzuol, Dafni-Eleftheria Pefani and Iosifina Foskolou. Phoebe Lam and Jane Bryant were chairs. Iosifina Foskolou won the prize for the best presentation. This was an outstanding session and the organizers congratulate all the SITS on their contribution to the session.
Early Career Investigator Awards were awarded to Phoebe Lam, Cynthia Eccles, Annie-Sophie Schreurs, Grainne Manning, Simon Horn, James Wilson, Balazs Madas and Jane Bryant. Poster prizes (kindly sponsored by EACR) were awarded to Francois, Boussin, Laury Perriaud, Alex Walker, Martin Kerr, Sarah Sabir, and Ronja Dimer-Biehs.
The Royal College of Radiologists awarded RCR CPD credits (15 for the meeting; 5 per day) for attendance at the meeting.
