Building on existing levels of proficiency at B2 of the Common European Framework of Reference [CEFR] the module aims to:
- Enable you to understand the main ideas ideas within complex speech and texts and to communicate effectively in the target language (TL), with fluidity and spontaneity, in a variety of contexts;
- Provide opportunities, across a selected variety of topics and themes, for participation in advanced level communicative language activities (e.g. listening, reading, speaking, writing, interaction, and mediation);
- Consolidate and develop the range of complex language structures, syntax, and specialised vocabulary to support consistent accuracy and control in use of the TL;
- Facilitate the exploration, and analysis of a special subject linked to the student’s chosen field of interest.
Module learning outcomes
- By the end of the module, with reference to CEFR B2 level, a successful student should be able to recognise and identify the main arguments of extended complex discourse, in standard and increasingly specialised target language, within a selected range of subjects.
- Communicate effectively in the target language, displaying a degree of spontaneity and awareness of conventions of register, within a selected variety of formal/informal contexts.
- Use and apply specialised vocabulary and complex target language structures cohesively, appropriate to context.
- Critically analyse in the target language, a special subject linked to a chosen field of interest.
