On this module, you’ll build on the research skills developed in Academic Development 1 to focus on producing well-structured and thoroughly evaluated written academic arguments. You’ll learn to:
- construct arguments supported with sound evidence
- develop a clear point of view
- align your writing with the expectations of your chosen subject area.
Using the Canvas site, you’ll analyse how expert writers in your field convey their arguments. By applying these techniques, you’ll start to position yourself as part of a specific academic community.
Module learning outcomes
- Create subject-specific academic texts containing well-structured, consistently supported coherent arguments
- Critically evaluate the key arguments of relevant subject-specific sources to support the communication of your own arguments
- Identify your own strengths and areas of development through feedback on academic work, and to devise an autonomous approach to learning on your undergraduate course
