On this module, you’ll build on the research skills developed in Academic Development 1 by focusing on producing well-structured academic arguments. You’ll learn to:
- evaluate arguments thoroughly
- support your ideas with sound evidence
- present arguments that reflect your perspective effectively
Using the Canvas site, you’ll explore how expert writers in your subject area construct their arguments. You’ll then apply these techniques to develop your own work, aligning with the expectations of your academic discipline and becoming part of its community.
Module learning outcomes
- Create subject-specific academic texts containing well-structured, consistently supported coherent arguments
- Critically evaluate the key arguments of relevant subject-specific sources to support the communication of your own arguments
- Identify your own strengths and areas of development through feedback on academic work, and to devise an autonomous approach to learning on your undergraduate course
