On this module, you’ll build on the research skills developed in Academic Development 1 by focusing on producing clear, well-structured academic arguments. You’ll learn to:
- evaluate arguments critically
- support your points with robust evidence
- reflect your perspective effectively.
Using the Canvas site, you’ll analyse how expert writers in your field present their arguments. You’ll then apply these techniques to produce your own work aligned with the expectations of your chosen academic discipline, helping you integrate into your academic community.
Module learning outcomes
- Create subject-specific academic texts containing well-structured, consistently supported coherent arguments
- Critically evaluate the key arguments of relevant subject-specific sources to support the communication of your own arguments
- Identify your own strengths and areas of development through feedback on academic work, and to devise an autonomous approach to learning on your undergraduate course
