This module looks in detail at substantive criminal offences, via close analysis of relevant statute and case law. It focuses on understanding how the substantive legal rules are applied, using problem questions (such as hypothetical fact scenarios) to explore the operation of each offence.

We will also consider the extent to which the offences are clearly defined, paying attention to elements of each offence which are open to competing interpretations.
