This module looks at the key elements of competition law and its constraints on unfair business practices.

It compares and contrasts the competition laws in major jurisdictions, including the EU, US, Australia and China.

It also assesses the landmark competition disputes that have addressed cartels, monopolies, abuse of dominance and unfair state aid.

Module learning outcomes

• Acquire systematic knowledge of key elements of competition law from international perspective.
• Extend and apply knowledge of competition law to assess cross-border business practices under different jurisdictions.
• To devise and support legal arguments relating to applicable competition law to specific scenarios to determine the legality of business behaviour in different jurisdictions.
• Critically evaluate different competition law approaches and outcomes in main jurisdictions.
